PLEASE NOTE.  THIS PRODUCT IS DESIGNED FOR LIGHT SCRATCHES SUCH AS PICK MARKS AND MEDIUM SCRATCHES SUCH AS ABRASIONS THAT ARE NOT THROUGH THE LACQUER.  IF YOUR DINK IS THROUGH TO THE WOOD GO AND SEE A LUTHIER.

THE PRODUCT IS GOOD, BUT NOT QUITE A MIRACLE WORKER!

  • Assuming that you’ve purchased the full “Players Kit” that I sell.
  • Use the RED #1 polish for regular cleaning, use the coarser BLUE #2 polish for more serious scratches.  ALWAYS finish with an application of the Red #1 polish – especially on BLACK GLOSS finishes.
  • Remove strings and any hardware that you can easily replace (if necessary).
  • Shake the bottle before each use.
  • Apply to a clean surface using only the clean “pocketed” microfibre cloth supplied (other cloths may affect the effectiveness of the polish).
  • Put a 3-4cm size amount of polish onto the cloth.
  • Rub in a circular motion, doing one small area at a time.
  • Rub harder for stubborn scratches.
  • Remove with a clean microfibre cloth before the polish dries, until the surface is clean.
  • Repeat in needed areas – use care with soft woods such as cedar tops on acoustics – too much pressure will damage the wood.
  • Some stubborn scratches may require repeated applications, and although they may not disappear, their effect will be minimised.

    Hi,

Thank you for your kind explanation on the method of application for the product. I’m kind of stuck here at, “Remove with a clean microfibre cloth before the polish dries, until the surface is clean”. Does that means after all the steps below, you immediately clean the surface or after a period of time, i.e. a few seconds?

-Apply to a clean surface using only the clean “pocketed” microfibre cloth supplied (other cloths may affect the effectiveness of the polish).
-Put a 3-4cm size amount of polish onto the cloth.
-Rub in a circular motion, doing one small area at a time.
    -Rub harder for stubborn scratches.

I appreciate if you could further brief with photos on every steps (or where necessary) so i may use it as a cross reference when doing it.

    Thank you.

Hi there – a 3-4cm blob of the polish should be enough to do a complete side of the guitar – so adjust quantity accordingly.
What I usually do is apply the product as detailed, paying closer attention to the damaged area, and spreading out to the wider surface of the guitar.
After an initial treatment, refold the micro fibre cloth and continue to buff. Refolding the cloth provides a clean/dry area of the cloth and will remove the remaining polish.
If the scratch is still there, reapply and re-buff.
Be careful not to be too localised with the application as the product is slightly abrasive and excessive rubbing (with or without the product) can result in removal of the finish.
You should not need more than 5 or ten minutes work to see results.
Any further problems – please send me photos and I will advise with more specific help. Thanks for asking. Philip.
